Due to the COVID-19 crisis, dentists across Princeton and the greater United States have had to close their doors to anything outside of essential services, such as emergency dental treatment. But at Prime Dental Care, we’re making the most of this “social distancing” situation to introduce our patients to a little-known service: virtual dental appointments.
What is Teledentistry?
Chances are, you’ve probably already heard of telemedicine. That is, you talk to your doctor or another medical provider over the phone, via a FaceTime call, or through an app. You can share messages, photos, or even get prescription medication called in based on the symptoms you’re experiencing.
With teledentistry, we perform virtual dental screenings over the phone. No, it’s not the same as getting to see our Princeton dentist for a detailed emergency exam, but it does allow for us to assess the situation to determine what to do next.
Some of the reasons you might want to set up a virtual emergency appointment include things like:
- Tooth pain
- Broken or chipped tooth
- Swelling in your gums
- Injury to your mouth
- Abscessed tooth
Virtual Dentistry: Safe and Affordable
Booking a virtual emergency dental appointment in Princeton prevents you from having to go out in public during coronavirus “social distancing”. But it also gives you the peace of mind you need when you’re in pain. Depending on what your emergency is, we can either arrange to meet you up at our office for treatment or prescribe appropriate medication until the COVID-19 pandemic dies down.
