At Prime Dental Care, our Princeton dentist’s office is going above and beyond normal infection control protocols to keep our patients, staff, and families safe.
Although all Princeton dentists have closed their offices to routine or elective dental work, we’re still able to provide urgent and emergency dentistry treatments in a safe, sterile atmosphere. That way we can alleviate unnecessary burdens on hospital emergency departments while minimizing patient exposure to COVID-19. By reducing the number of patients in dental offices, personal protective equipment (PPE) can be preserved for the most critical care cases and interactions with other people are minimized to meet social distancing guidelines.
Examples of same-day emergency treatments we offer are those related to:
- Chronic pain
- Aggressive oral infections
- Severe swelling
Steps We’re Taking
Our office has invested in an open-air bio filter, which suctions aerosols from the dental treatment area, to prevent cross-contamination (since you can’t wear a mask during treatment.) The filter removes particles such as microscopic droplets and dust throughout the procedure, reducing the spread of bacteria.
Due to the highly contagious nature of COVID-19, individuals can be contagious even if they’re not feeling ill or symptomatic. That’s why we treat everyone as if they are potentially carriers of the virus without knowing it. All care personnel are equipped with additional PPE barriers such as surgical caps and disposable suits. Additionally, we take each person’s temperature upon arrival and provide hand sanitizer at check-in.
