Implants vs. Partial Dentures: What to Know Princeton, NJ
Older Smiling Woman

Are you missing teeth and planning in having them replaced? Dental implants and partial dentures are two great treatment options that are available at our Princeton dental practice.

What Are Implants?

An implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed in the bone, where it functions as the root of your new “tooth.” Once placed, the bone will fuse to the threads on the implant surface. This process takes about 12 weeks or so. After the implant is sturdy enough to withstand the pressure of biting and chewing, we’ll fit a crown on top of the implant.

What Is A Partial Denture?

A partial denture is a custom removable appliance that consists of a metal or acrylic base and has acrylic teeth on it in the areas of your missing teeth. Partials stay in place with claps that hook around your remaining teeth.

Implants vs. Partials

● Implants are permanently fixed while partials are removable.
● Implants are more natural feeling than partials.
● Though both of these options are long-term solutions for replacing missing teeth, implants will outlast a partial.
● Partials are about half the price of one implant and crown, and this appliance usually costs about the same no matter how many teeth are missing.
● Partials are a much quicker tooth replacement option than implants. The process only takes a few weeks to a month, while the implant treatment from start to finish can take about six to eight months.

My husband has been going to Dr Ma and this practice for many years and swears by them so I thought I would try it out. Very pleasant and professional with a great location and good availability, they respond to queries in a timely way and provide reminders for appointments via text which is great since some practices appear to be in the dark ages on some of the practical stuff. Everyone seems to try to ensure you have a pleasant visit (in spite of being to the dentist!) so kudos to the whole operation. Also, a lot of care has been taken to go above and beyond the requirements of hygiene during this pandemic including state-of-the-art air filtration systems.

Starting from reception to the assistant to the doctors they are so amazing. I have major dental anxiety and they were above and beyond sweet and nice to me. I have come back after a root canal and I can go for a run I feel that good and comfortable with them. They rock! They are awesome- I highly recommend this place
